Orange County home prices increased 21.7% in June compared to June 2012, Irvine-based Core-Logic reported Tuesday.
It was the biggest annual percentage gain in local home prices since December 2004 for a second straight month, according to Core-Logic. Nationwide, home prices increased 11.9% in June year over year, the report showed.
“The U.S. housing market experienced robust price appreciation during the first half of 2013, and our forecast calls for double-digit growth through July,” said Anand Nallathambi, president and chief executive of Core-Logic. “Despite their rebound of late, home prices remain reasonable in a historical context, with most states near peak affordability levels.”
Home prices in California were up 21.4% overall in June. Prices increased 20.7% in Los Angeles County and 19.8% in the Inland Empire.
